Game Premise

The free-to-play brawler MMOG Elsword provides an extensive backstory with an array of exciting characters, along with superb action. Read on to find out what else you can expect to see.

An exciting story:

Elsword is set in the fabled world of Elios. This once gloomy and unloving environment has been turned into a flourishing oasis thanks to the arrival of a giant crystal with magical powers. Everything around it was given a new lease of life and even a robot called Nasod developed his own desires and abilities for free-thinking. The keepers of the crystal have, however, turned on each other and a gruesome war has broken out for control of this life-giving crystal. You are thrown straight into this war as you try to reunite this once peaceful and wonderful world.

Character Creation:

Just like in most other roleplaying games, you start off in the free-to-play MMORPG Elsword deciding on the type of character you want to play. Elsword gives you the option between 6 different characters. These consist of Elsword himself, the elf Rena, the mischievous Aisha, the rebellious Raven, the mystical Eve and the careful Chung.

Elsword is of course the main character of the story. His strengths lie in his skills with a sword and his speed.

Rena is an elf. Her goal is to find the tree of life and use its power to rescue elven kind. She has mastered the bow and arrow.

Aisha is a mischievous mage. She accompanies your group and has access to some powerful spells.

Raven is your typical rebel. As half-human, half-nasod, she wields incomparable powers

Eve was once a noble princess of the Nasod. Due to her status, she has the ability to send powerful robots into battle.

Chung is the weapons master of the group. During a battle with evil forces, he was heavily injured and saved by Elsword. Since then, he’s stood by Elsword’s side and provides much needed firepower.

Teamplay and Battle Mode:

Elsword delivers a large number of different characters with specific qualities and abilities. In game, you definitely have the most fun playing with other people, entering into the action-packed battles side-by-side. These are always played out in a Beat’em Up style. This means that the individual skills of your character are even more important and you really get a great feeling after every new and successful combo.

Special Features

  • Unique Characters: Choose between 6 different characters (Elsword, Rena, Aisha, Raven etc.) with unique weapon proficiencies
  • Cooperative Mode: Join forces with friends and complete levels, tasks and missions together as well as enter into exciting PvP arena battles
  • Battle Combos: Learn breath-taking battle skills and impress your opponent with your outlandish attacks and combos
  • Feel Nostalgic: Experience the best Beat’em Up action since Tekken, Street Fighter and Super Smash Brothers

The Bottom Line

The free-to-play anime roleplaying game Elsword is set in a colourful and lovingly crafted anime world. You really feel like you can spend hours in the surroundings completing exciting tasks and quests along with the storyline. The best thing about Elsword is, however, the teamplay features. Playing together with friends or other players in Beat’em Up style levels, really brings back memories of the good old days of Super Smash Bros on the Nintendo 64 and this is a ridiculous amount of fun. If you’re after a great evening in with friends, then we can’t recommend this game highly enough.
